• Working with landowners to ensure minimal interruption of existing land use activities
• Maintaining the land as close to its natural condition before it was constructed

Operation of our facility is also focused on causing minimal impacts to the environment and landowners. The compressors and other equipment have been designed to limit sound and air emissions to comply with all applicable state and federal regulations.

The natural gas industry has successfully stored natural gas in underground facilities for nearly 90 years by keeping safety a priority. Our team has safely and efficiently been involved in the building and operation of similar storage projects in multiple areas across the United States. We take great pride in our ability to operate natural gas storage facilities and work hard to ensure strict compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory safety and environmental requirements.

Below are some of the safety aspects of the operation:

• Systems are designed with multiple emergency shut-off switches that are accessible at many locations by all employees on the site
• Systems are engineered with fail-safe devices that eliminate the possibility of malfunction
• Shut down devices are available via remote access
• The natural gas that is being handled is a clean/dry pipeline gas

In addition, Leaf River holds periodic training and safety drills, with its own personnel and in coordination with local authorities, to prepare for abnormal or emergency conditions that may impact our operations, physical plant, personnel or neighbors.

Leaf River also has a Public Awareness Plan with a goal to raise the awareness of key stakeholders of the presence of Leaf River’s pipelines and storage caverns in their communities. Leaf River operates high pressure pipelines using the best state-of-the-art technology.

If a leak were to occur in your vicinity:

• Turn off any equipment and eliminate any ignition sources without risking injury.
• Leave the area by foot immediately. Try to direct any other bystanders to leave the area. Attempt to stay upwind.
• From a safe location, call 911 and if possible notify Leaf River at 769-553-0022. Leaf River will need your name, your phone number, a brief description of the incident, and the location so the proper response can be initiated.

The best way to prevent damage to ours or any pipeline is to CALL BEFORE YOU DIG. IT’S THE LAW! CALL 811. Because even relatively minor excavation activities like landscaping or fencing can cause damage to a pipeline, its protective coating and/or buried utility lines. Always contact Mississippi’s One-Call Center before engaging in any excavation, construction, farming or digging in areas in or around Leaf River’s pipelines. Mississippi requires 48 hours notice to the One-Call Center to allow the utility operators to mark their pipelines and utilities at your proposed digging site. In fact, most serious damage done to pipelines is done when a third party inadvertently excavates, blasts or drills within a pipeline right-of-way. By contacting the One-Call Center first, this type of damage can be prevented. Leaf River always requires a representative to be present to monitor the safe excavation.
